We were promised that when they rebuilt the ponty

We do need one - Carlisle is a great example of a club with clubs/ social bars. They have three in the main stand - it's a great atmosphere and always packed

Does Phil from the Mount still hold the licence for the Ponty end ?

I was told e would not give it u and thats why we have not got a bar in that part of the ground.
The club told him that when the old club was knocked down to build the new stand, there would be a new club in it but he would not be able to run it. So he would not relinquish the licence, dont know if its all true , but I know for sure that there was a few heated meeting between them.

No..licensing laws have changed since then IIRC

current excuse of lack of ponte bar is due to lack of space which does not seem to prevent licences being granted at other grounds i.e. preston where space is poorer or any where in the town centre for that matter.

It went when the old Ponty End was replaced. mid 90s Id say.

Thing is, the old social club had little to do with Barnsley FC. Cuz and Mick Barker ran coaches from there off their own backs. Our supporters club team was based there. None of this had any direct link with Barnsley FC as I can remember.

A new supporters bar would have a lot to live up to IMHO.

    Good Idea

It would have to be bigger than any of the bars/clubs/pubs in town as well, to cope with demand.

They've got Shearers bar at Newcastle as well, top place for a few before match showing loads of old matches on tv's all round pub. Something like this would be perfect

problem is when away following take over..

I know a Pikey Rovers fan and he says their club bar gets taken over every time their is a large away following.

Aye it can't be that hard to do that. Entry only upon production of your season ticket booklet or a matchday ticket showing you're going to be sat in the home ends. They could even do a special membership card which costs so much per year to enter the place. I can't see away fans buying one for one visit per season.
