I know its been discussed on here before, but is there any point in this anymore? The list is extremely embarrasing. It seems as long as you are in the public eye you've got a chance to have an OBE etc.... Parky - a bumbling old fool who gets stars when they have something to promote whilst not being asked tough questions. I've just seen the list on Sky, and I can only see the lady who runs a mental health trust as being deserving of the award.
Kylie - an OBE for "services to music" - eh?! Services to Farnham's fantasies perhaps but services to music! And even the woman you mention - it's her job isn't it? Why do people get these awards solely for doing their job? Where's mine?
Yeah, I guess your right. But she's doing a job not many people who want to do. I know I wouldnt have the heart for it. Thats what I hate - "service to television". They've been paid handsomely for their work and never done a proper paid job in their life. Kylie has sold 60m albums. Well, at a wild guess I have sold well over $60m in I.T over a 12 year period. Paid taxes and earnt companies a small fortune. I think Im well worthy of at least a MBE, if not straight to Knighthood.
More to the point What's the point of being made a Commander of the British Empire (C.B.E.) for example, when the British Empire ceased to exist a long time ago. If these people all want to pat themselves on the back & have a bit of a party at the Palace when receiving their medal, that's up to them. Can't see the relevance personally.
