Not a great start. Another poor Root innings in that part of the world. We won the first test because the Kiwis dropped too many, but they are sticking so far.

Brooks on the rampage … can he last long with this cavalier style ?
    Hope so

    Let's hope so.

How good does the Basin Reserve look? I love New Zealand grounds. Seddon Park would be my pick.

I'd always wanted to see some cricket in the West Indies, and managed it in 2019 - well worth a special holiday. New Zealand is 100% my next aim after that, although it's a big old trip! My cricket pal also fancies Sri Lanka.

Nice to see a few folk watching and don’t you just love seeing spectators on the grass and no vast stands with people in them.
It looks to hold about as many as Scarborough ( the ground not the town )

What a session. Four down early and still go at nearly 5 an over to reach 124.

That really was a session of 2 halves!

Love how Harry Brook plays like Harry Brook whatever the situation. We were bang in trouble, I’d now say honours even, but very early days of course.

Special player to come in at number 5 in the first session of a test match and still reach your half century by lunch.

Most players would be cagey after losing so many wickets so early in the game.

    Not him.

Brook is an unbelievable talent, just out of interest does anyone know how he compares to Root at this stage of his test career of 22 matches ?

Not a bad start to the day. England look to have two special players in Brook and Carse.

I didn't rate Carse at all before he got picked, what do I know about Test cricket!

I thought he was to be a white ball player alone and wouldn’t be even considered for tests…..

Bowling paradise that pitch. We should have an 100+ lead before we bat again.

Rubbish. 5 dropped catches does not counter balance an 8 wicket win.

If, buts and maybes but England should have been 120-150 all out in the first innings of the first test which would have put a totally different slant on it.
