Hi Newbie here. After viewing this forum for quite a while now I have decided,for what it's worth, to enter the forum battlefield. I already know who the wind-up people are,so I am prepared for anything that comes my way. I will not join all the new signing rumour mongers out there, but will comment on all the incoming/outgoing transfers as they occur. Looking forward to kickoff already, and am optimistic for the new season.

Goalless draw against QPR in a season where we only won 9 games, so you'd be forgiven for not remembering it

The team v QPR was: Hill; Hopper, Brookes; Swallow (debut), Winstanley, Cunningham (debut); Sheavills, Kerr, Leighton, Byrne, O'Hara. I was also at that game and, like you, cannot recall anything of note about it. No goals. No atmosphere. No hope for the season. And we think things have been bad last season!! Amazing .... I have just found the match programme!! QPR team was: Smith; Pat Brady, Taylor; Malcolm, Ray Brady, Angell; Collins, Bedford, Leary, Keen, McLeod. There was a programme foreword from Joe Richards reminding us how fortunate we were to escape relegation with a last game draw away at .....QPR. it was Millwall who went down because we drew and they had fans at the game. We were 2-0 down at half time, but clawed back one goal through Johnny Byrne and then equalised through (RIP) Jimmy Sheavills. It was one of the few contributions of note made by James in his Reds career. The Barnsley Chronicle description of his goal told you a lot.... 'Sheavills surprisingly found himself all alone in the penalty area with the ball at his feet and looked all round himself before putting the ball into the net.' (Or words to that effect). The threatened Millwall pitch invasion never materialised and we survived only to go down the following season. You did well to stay, if that was your first season as a supporter. I can smell the woodbines again!!
Most informative. Thanks. As for staying,you either are a true fan (thick & thin and all that') or a closet fan. How many on here fall into the latter?
