Keanu Reeves' new sci-fi thriller has been boycotted by upset soccer fans... because their stadium gets blown up by aliens in the movie. Supporters of German champs Bayern Munich were furious when a scene from The Day The Earth Stood Still showed the Allianz Arena stadium being wiped out by aliens. The club said it knew nothing of the scene until it appeared in the movie. "We were not informed and were also not asked for permission," media director Markus Hoerwick said. "It is not to our benefit for the Arena to be represented in such a way. Hollywood producers are considering re-shooting the footage and are looking for potential stadia across Europe. In a bizarre twist, English Championship side, Sheffield Wednesday are considering offering the producers free access to their Hillsborough Stadium. A spokesman for Wednesday said, ‘As a forward looking club we are always open to potential development opportunities. In fact, we would seriously consider allowing the producers to actually demolish the ground if they felt it would achieve greater realism. Our attendances have dwindled so much this year that any disruption would be minimal.’ A spokesman for Twentieth Century Fox said , ‘We welcome the club’s generous offer, but it is more likely we would use the venue for our next Space movie - we believe Hillsborough would be ideal as there is literally no atmosphere there.’
Let Them Use Ours We should put ours forward. It would bring us a sum of cash and plenty of publicity. No harm done and a much better choice than Wendy are.
