Crawley (H) Northampton (A) Bristol Rovers (A) Stevenage (H) We’ve got to be aiming for 9+ points from these fixtures which could really cement our place in the top 6. The Crawley game does worry me slightly with them not playing on New Years Day and will be much fresher than us, hoping our quality will get us through that game Northampton have been in shocking form, not winning in their last 6 (4 defeats) but they have picked up 2 draws in their last 2 since Kevin Nolan has taken over. Bristol Rovers are similar to Northampton, changing their manager recently which hasn’t changed their fortunes. We seem to have struggled with Stevenage over the past couple of seasons. They’ve only lost 1 in their last 7 (against Wycombe) so could be a tricky game.
If we wanna be getting top six, we wanna be aiming for four wins. If we’re dropping points somewhere amongst them, we need to make it up at Wycombe. This league isn’t waiting for anyone, especially the handful of teams wanting our spot. Stockport and Orient are probably the best outside the play offs at the moment but Mansfield, Charlton and Bolton all have games in hands. No ******* about please.
Need to target Wrexham because then if we fall short we make the Play-Offs. We're nine points and a transfer window away with 23 matches left. Hardly insurmountable if they apply themselves how they have recently. Be nice to get the fourth win on the bounce. Quite a rarity in recent years in spite of some half decent runs.
End of Feb and March is massive for Wrexham. They get form throughout those games and they go up. Hopefully they hit a bad patch and they’re for the taking. Before then, only Birmingham will cause them issues. We need to ensure we’re on them and ready to strike over the Easter period.
I hope Clarke hasn't given up on automatic because there are definite signs that the team is clicking.
Him giving up or thinking we’ve got a chance is hanging on us winning next few games and a solid January. Chronicle reporting we’re after a keeper, left back and a striker. Add a centre midfielder to that and we’ll cook. Don’t think Clarke trusts Nwakali and Yoganathan is too inexperienced to feature every game. Need a replacement for Matty Craig.
Have we not learnt anything supporting the Reds. Wouldn't be surprised if we only got 4 points from those games...
I'm sure the team target every game to win, unfortunatley theres another team always with the same intension. To use an old adage ,one game at a time.
Agree. Nowt worse than adding points on before we play a game we should be winning. Even though I'm superstitious I'm guilty of getting giddy from time to time. Like this thread for instance. I hope my confidence isn't misguided.
Dangerous set of fixtures, been watching us long enough to not start looking past the next game and expecting xyz amount of points. Winnable fixtures yes, easier fixtures? absolutely not, they are the teams that will set up to play a low block and frustrate us, catching us with a sucker punch, stereotypical games we struggle with. Remember beating Plymouth, Derby and Weds under Duff then falling apart against the Exeter Cities & Co of the division. Think 2 from Birmingham, Wycombe, Wrexham and Huddersfield will be too strong to catch for Autos, feet firmly planted looking forward to Crawley it will be freezing, they are scrapping away, happily take any sort of win.
I just hope the players don't think that because they won some tough festive games, these that look easier on paper are easy points.
We’ve dropped 5 points against Northampton and Stevenage already, and Brizzle knocked us out of the cup. I would suggest double figures in points over the next 4 games is very fanciful.
Superstitious? How dose that work ? If you wear your lucky pants and an opposition fan wears theirs you can't both win!
