    The club suggest he's wanted to leave since the summer after rejecting any contract negotiations.

    Surely the worst possible type of contender for a captaincy?

    The statement on the barnsley site doesnt suggest that he was which is weird

    If he wasn't then there's even more seriously wrong than I thought

    Such a decision can have such a negative effect on the team.

    However, I'm fairly confident that the other players and manager, if not having been told directly, would have picked up on it.
