Reds go down: - Davey will keep his job, Sheppard wont fire him, he will stick by his choice. - A few of our better players could be lost to bigger clubs. - Fans, players + board will expect a promotion push, top 6 minimum. - If Barnsley aren’t within reach of the top 6 by Christmas Davey will be sacked. - If we fail to get promoted we will lose some of our championship players again and be in for another few years of league one football : Reds stay up: - Again Davey keeps job and rightly so. - If we are within the relegation zone after 18 matches Davey will/should be sacked (Just like Richtie). - Fans should expect some stability and aim for lower mid table; however we could end up in another relegation fight. Prediction this season: Reds stay up. Prediction next season: Davey will get his first full season in charge and should learn from any mistakes in his first half season as a manager, however I still think we have a long way to go before we become a stable championship club and we will end up in another relegation battle but hopefully do a little better next season :| What are your thoughts for this/next season?
My thoughts ?
I keep telling myself I'm not that bothered anymore, but when Nards scored and at the full time whistle last Saturday I was jumping around like I used to as a bairn when Aylott and Glavin were our lead men. I hope and pray we stop up cos I support Barnsley Football Club, specifically whichever bods are on the pitch wearing the shirt. The management of this season though has given me total and utter contempt for the Board at BFC.

Regardless of what league we are in next season, I hope this pre-season involves a shake up at the club. Im not saying 'sack Davey but Lets clear the 'dead wood' from the squad and backroom. GS also needs to look at the way things are run, and more important, himself!!
Reletagtion....Shepherd stands down and is replaced, Davey given until Christmas to show he knows how to handle players, team made up of youngsters. Survival....Shep stays on for a further 12 months and Davey given same amount of time to prove he has/.hasn't got the skills required to take us to the next level. My guess one way or the other Davey will not be here in 12 months time, personally i hope Shep goes first.
As pre season will show what Davey is made of. No doubt he will have already lined up a couple of lists of potential signings (depending on what league we are in). He will have a couple of months to stamp his mark, and a clean slate come August!
This season: stay up and a celebration just as bid as least season. Next season: Big clear out in summer. Too many players in squad who are not good enough. We might as well get rid of 10 squad players on small wages and use that saving to get in 5 players on higher wages who are proven at this level. Hopefully the Board will make some decent money available to spend on transfer fees. Full backs must be a priority. Still see a bottom half finish but to be safe with a few games left.
Fewer, better players on higher wages? So you're talking of a complete change in policy by the board then? Hope you're right.
RE: Fewer, better players on higher wages? So you're talking of They were more opinion than predictions. I take your point. But it does seem to make sense to me.
