Next season starting line up - more attacking?

Simon Davey on going for Andy Gray from the BBC

"We are looking for a big striker, someone who can be a target man," said Barnsley manager Simon Davey.

"We've got Daniel Bogdanavic who is a finisher, Iain Hume who is a finisher and is sharp and good around his feet," Davey added.

"Jon Macken acts as a target man but isn't the biggest and is really a link man, so we need a big striker who can link the other three strikers."

Does he really intend to play Boggy, Hume, Macken and a new target man all in the same team?

Where would JCR fit in?

To play the four mentioned surely he'd have to go for target man through the middle, Boggy and Hume wide left and right and Macken in the hole.

Where would this leave JCR? Or is this a back up plan incase he goes? Or is he talking bal lacks again?

 

Macken will be on the bench next season...

And used as a bit-part player. Think Bogdanovic will partner Gray if he comes (hope so!) And Hume will come in off the bench too but used more regularly, could take time to get up to full fitness - leaving JCR out wide .

 

Don't you mean JCR the sweeper?

 

Do you think Steele will be getting trained in the art right now of holding onto the ball for 40 seconds before a 3m underarm throw to the sweeper?

If Macken starts many games

I'm afraid we will struggle.

Decent squad player but hardly scores any goals and is very little threat at all.

So I hope you're right.

I read it that he was just pointing out that he doesn't have a target man. When he says, "who can link the other three strikers" I took it to mean more, "who can link (with) the other three strikers."

 

I am guessing Hume will be a winger nt

 

i am the only one who thinks were crying out for someone to play in Brian Howards role
Could Iain Hume do this ?

 

Charlie Adam would be the ideal Howard replacement although i doubt we'll get him now .

 

So if we have to **** whit the ***** we have got could Hume play in that role

 

Hard to tell, could be a good choice. He's not afraid to put his foot in and not afraid to shoot, still think his best position is up front but not a bad idea i suppose.

Better than what a mate of mine said to me anyway! Said Macken should play the attacking midfield role :'( (N).
