....is where we need to be looking now. Forget the fact that we have 4 games left and quit clutching at straws folks. Face the cold, harsh truth and admit we are down. FACT. Forest & Norwich will do us no favours and we just aren't good enough to save ourselves. We are going down because we deserve to. League 1 is an awful prospect but that's where we're gonna be so we have to face it. Our concerns now are which of our better players can be persuaded to stay and who is going to try to guide us back up? Unfortunately I fear that our better performers are on contracts that we will find difficult to honour with a lower budget. I cannot see the likes of Foster, Moore, Anderson, Colace, JCR and Hume plying their trade in the alehouse league. The first priority though is a new manager. Davey is obviously very unpopular and sticking by him would be committing financial suicide. It's going to be difficult enough getting the punters down to the Well in any case in these difficult times without keeping that clown. We need a strong manager with a bit of fight in his personality, that rubs off on his players and inspires them to play for our great club. It may not be everyone's choice but I'm thinking someone like Ian Holloway. It's early days yet and we'll just have to see what happens, but today is a sad day. Our beloved club is in a mess. Some bold decisions need to be made in the summer and we cannot afford to get them wrong. Over to you Mr Cryne...
You know what your on about pal thats the best post ive read on this site in all the time ive been useing it well done
RE: Holloway is a media darling and a fecking disaster Well who do you suggest? Talk of Ince and Curbishley is just crap. We aren't going to attract their likes in a million years. I'm not saying Holloway would be my definite choice, he's just a realistic target that came to mind. Barnsley FC might be attractive to us but to most people in football it's not.
Next Manager has to be... someone who has a history of producing a team that is hard working, but also has an eye for young talent coming through the lower leagues.
Its no good mentioning the likes of Ince/Keane/O Leary/Hollowing. They'd all want millions to spend because they'd release all the **** we have at the minute.
We need someone to come in and take over what we have, whilst adding talent from the lower leagues.

I can only think of one at the minute........ Nigel Atkins. Got a good eye for players in the lower leagues, and has kept Scnuthorpe in a play-off hunt despite losing there best players last summer.

don't see why we couldn't get Ince he did his time at Macclesfield and MK Dons in the 2 levels beneath us. Spent 5 minutes out of his depth at Blackburn and from his recent interviews, seems desperate to get back in a job. I reckon IF we can stay up he's worth a call, OK, as soon as someone bigger comes calling he'll be off, but they'll only come calling if he's been successful with us.
