About 12 months ago I wrote a thread regarding installment payments for season tickets.I think with the current financial situation this idea is more relevant than last year. How many thinks it would be benefitial to pay for example a £50 deposit and installments of £20 or £50 pounds until paid up.If there is enough support for this we could maybe pass it on to the club for there views.

    I personally think

it would be a good idea, think we would get more season ticket holders that way because, not many people can afford to pay straight up front.

We did it a few seasons ago where you could pay what you want to be fully payed in time for the first home game.

What they need to be doing imho is saying book & pay for next year's ST now and get a discount. Or pay in 3 lots - May/June/July.

You can't spread the cost too much or defeats the object from the clubs point of view.

But once the non-refundable deposit has been paid

the Club can count on the rest of the money, so can take that into account.

A lot of people who are finding things tight and have lost or about to lose their jobs may still want to go to the football matches and being able to buy a ST by instalments would mean the Club would have more income than if the people just chose an odd occasional match.

Once someone has paid a £50 deposit the club should have a rough idea how much they can work with.

Sheffield United and Wednesday have both recently announced ticket offers etc for next season.

If the usual happens with us, we won't hear owt until end of season, and will be pay up in one go or they are not interested. And absolutely no incentive to buy earlier than 2 weeks before new season.

For me there should be the following in place

    1. A payment plan for next season that starts now. so much a week that you pay to the club now and recieve a discount on your season ticket. The club is happy because they get money earlier and the fan is happy because they can spread the cost of the ticket, as a sweetener to get people to part with their money now they get a small discount.

    2. Prices announced early (ie in the next 3 weeks) so that people can budget. The club will use its usual excuse of 'we don't know which league we're going to be in' which has been the standard excuse for the last few years but it's not realy hard to say if we're in league one its x amount, championship its y.

    3. A payment plan for people to pay throughout the season they're watching. The club doesnt get any money up front but they know how many people are essentially subscribing and can budget from that. It works for thousands of other subcription companies throughout the world so I see no reason why it can't work for us. A small administration charge could be applied to offset the costs.

    4. A season ticket card with your image on it instead of a season ticket booklet and linked to clubshop sales etc. They can be used by the club for collecting information that will prove valuable for future marketing strategies rather than guessing what fans want and buy etc. These can be marketed as being green as we arent wasting tonnes of paper every year.

    Just my opinions like

Why don't people just save £50 a month from now until July/Aug rather than waiting for the club to offer instalments? And then when they aren't offered everybody moans at the club. If you can't afford to save it, you can't afford to pay the instalments. Just a thought.

A Few Clubs Are Cutting Prices Around 10%

I'd be fairly happy if we did the same.

i used to pay in installments a few years ago but it all stopped when we got barnsley building society on the front of our shirt funny that int it as soon as money lenders get involved with the club the only way you can pay in installments is to do so by going though them and paying intrest

I dont think charging a fee for paying in installments is a bad thing

eg pay £300 for your ticket now
or pay £50 deposit now and then a further 6 installments of £45 (or even £50) over 6 months - total £320 to £350

I dont think its fair to expect interest free credit from the club

Yeah but still got over 10,000 empty seats at most games and even as little as 10% is a 60 quid saving for a couple.

Spot on. 2 reasons why none of it will happen

    1. The club hasn't got the first clue about PR and doesn't give a ****

2.It means work for the box office staff. Every little thing they've done since the former General Manager, now a Director, arrived at the Club has been done to make life easier for the staff and harder for the customers who pay their wages.
