I'm not sure exactly how it works next season - I know the rules regarding emergency loans have been changed - is it now that we can only sign players on loan during the transfer window? Anyway, assuming so, I've been thinking, and if that's the case, how big should our squad be, and who would you like to see in it? I reckon 26 players - 2 for each position, plus an extra keeper, defender, midfielder and striker, then some of the youth we've been signing. Something like this: Davies/Townsend + Young Keeper Williams/Bree Mawson/Long Roberts/New CB White/Smith +Yiadom Isgrove/New Winger Scowen/McCourt Hourihane/Moncur Hamill/Williams +New Midfielder Fletcher/Watkins Winnall/Tuton (or whichever of the new strikers challenges best) +White (see Tuton) It looks like Brownhill is off, but if we can hang on to Hamill, Isgrove and Fletcher, plus find a new CB, winger and midfielder I reckon we've a very solid squad. If White can't prove his fitness he may need replacing in Jan if Smith can't step up? Any thoughts on that?
If we sign a new striker we maybe should look at paddy madden give him the chance to prove himself in the championship or the lad from Swindon.
He's had a storming season, but dunno if he's done too much before that though. Could be the next Michael Smith? Haven't seen too much of Swindon, how's he play? Might he be worth going after if we can't get Fletcher again? Just thinking about how to make up a solid squad seeing as we can't take loans if it's not working come October/November.
We have signed payne from dover and kayden summat from wrexhsm both non league prolific strikers. Yiadom is quality also
GK - Davies/Townsend/J.Walton RB - Yaidom$/G.Williams*/Bree LB - White/*/Smith/C.Evans RCB - Roberts/Nyatanga LCB - Mawson/Cowgill RW - Watkins/$$/**/$/R.Williams LW - Hammill/O.Khan CM - Scowen$$/McCourt CM - Hourihane/Harris/Kay FC - Watkins**/White/Tuton ST - Winnall/Payne/Ash/K.Jackson I am hoping to see Winnall, Hourihane and Hammill here next season. IMHO with loan players gone we are thread bare and need experience in all areas. Firstly get I would allow Naytanga and Ryan Williams to leave and if interest sell Digger. First targets would be to renew loans or query option to buy for Long, Isgrove, Brownhill, Fletcher and Chapman. Ideally I think we need at least 5 experienced lads i.e. a keeper, central defender, midfield general with a presence in midfield, creative winger and forward. In Hecky we Trust.
We should concentrate on getting Fletcher, Hammill and Isgrove here first off. Then sign 3 quality championship players: CB (Long), CM, winger Kemar Roofe would be nice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am very pleased with the change to looking at the lower leagues for players but the next change I want to see is getting proper money for these players when they move on. There are a lot of clubs with money and I would like us to rip off some of these clubs like we have been. Starting with Bristol City. No more "undisclosed fee". send the message out if you want a Barnsley player you have to cough up.
