BARNSLEY: Letheren, Harban, Tonge, Meynell, Williams, McParland, Wroe, Heslop, Mulryne, Jarman, Coulson. Subs: Loukes, McGrory, Potter, Beevor, Waggett.
RE: Conference Ahoy. how long are the likes of Jarman and joynes going to get? The Unibond League is full of players who've spent 3 years in BFC reserves. 3 feckin years, surely they should step up or **** off beofre then.
RE: Conference Ahoy. Atkinson and Heslop imho should be in 1st team squad.
For years we've seemed unable to get youngsters from 15/16 years old and full of potential into the 1st team.

RE: Conference Ahoy. It's much easier to bring young lads into a winning team as opposed to one thats struggling but I'd agree we need some yoof on the bench. They'll not learn much in the conference.
Has any player from any club been loaned out to a non-league side. Then come back to the club and "made it"
Closest I suppose have been Luke Beckett and Glynn Hurst. Ian Knight was released in fit of pique by the manager at the time ( Bobby summat or other) when he knew he was getting sacked, and then would have made a good career but for an horrific injury.
It just seems to be that final hurdle of getting them through 15 to 18 years old and ready for the 1st team.

The club in the last few years has not been the best place for youngsters though. Constantly changing managers ,to me, gives the youngsters no chance.
The new guys will always look to players "they know".

RE: The club in the last few years has not been the best place for youngsters though. About time we sacked Ritchie then and started afresh eh Johnny ?
RE: The club in the last few years has not been the best place for youngsters though. They do say that if you get one professional (never mind a decent first teamer) out of a generation of youth players you are doing well. Unfortunately, no manager is given the time to test out young players because results are the be all and end all. Perhaps if we were settled in mid table for a few seasons it might give a chance to the younguns. As it stands, I'd rather go with tried and tested experienced pros than younsgters.
RE: The club in the last few years has not been the best place for youngsters though. The best chance for the youngsters at the club is to keep Ritchie in my opinion.
We have brought in a new Academy guy this year, so surely this guy needs a couple of years to get things in order.
I dont expect anything from the Academy in the next 2-3 years.

RE: The club in the last few years has not been the best place for youngsters though. Ritchie was academy manager. So he should know the players that are coming through. He also keeps looking at players from other teams academies. So does that mean he would play young players, but ours just aren't good enough?
