Do you understand the rules Scott? Baseball and Ice Hockey and Basketball are ***** American sports. NFL is good.
No mate I don't Doesn't interest me in the slightest, same goes with Baseball as that's a kop out for Rounders? Ice Hockey's all blood and guts and Basketball's the only real American sport I know the rules to.
You should have watched the NY Yankees v LA Angels game last Thursday DB - absolutely cracking game of baseball. It has such an ebb and flow to it that cricket can't match for me. On the edge of my seat til the very end. Got tickets for Philadelphia Eagles v Washington Redskins NFL game in november....gave the Wembley game a miss as I'd rather have the genuine atmosphere and it'll cost us far less (seeing as we'll be in the area anyway)
All 3 of those are better than NFL Ice Hockey is a great spectacle, and I can respect Baseball and Basketball, to me american football is dull, too stop-start and far too reliant on tactics. No excitement compared to the others.
Only my opinion of course

Ice hockey is good, its fast and all action, NFL I don't fully understand the tactics but I like the game, its a more technical version of rugby. Basketball to me is boring, team gets ball, bounces it down to the other end and scored, other team gets it, bounces it down the other end and scores. Repeat until the game is over. Baseball I just do not understand at all. I don't understand the rules, the way it is played, the reason the fans watch it and then sit all day doing anything but watching the game, the reason that it suddenly stops to sing a song etc. I'm sure its a good sport but I wish somebody would explain it
I've not got time mate! But if you are in a bar in the States when there's a game on TV, just chat to the guy at the side of you, they'll explain it as it goes along. There's also the odd rule that crops up from time to time that I don't understand and I've just discussed it with a few guys at the bar. mind, one tiime in NY I found myself explaining it to a Swede (unfortunately it was a Swedish bloke not a woman!) One of the best ways to learn the rules of any of these sports though is playing the EA Sports computer games!
One of the good things about NFL to me is it's not that easy to predict. Every season sees different names doing well unlike normal football where the top four are a given. Never thought Broncos would still be unbeaten. Thinking of putting something on them for the Superbowl at 12/1.
I used to play one of the old john madden games on the mega drive which gave me a basic understanding of the rules of american football but I tend to find that the newer games are too complicated and fast if you don't know what you're doing. I even get confused by the rules on baseball on wii sports
Thinking of the Saints after last nights comeback. In baseball - since 2000 there have been 8 different champions. (It'll still be 8 after this season as the Yankees play last seasons champion Philadephia - the missus's team)
