http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-25915624 and please before the "he can afford it" remarks, I still thinks is a nice gesture
Don't think he's motivated by money after turning Chelsea down several times. Fantastic gesture. He also donated 500k to a children's hospital recently.
That's round about a week's wages for him. Have you ever donated a week's wages to any charity? I doubt whether anyone on here has done that in one lump.
Nothing like the same analogy, to be fair. Do you think most people on here have the amount of disposable income that Steven Gerrard has? Do you think people on here have their weekly wage boosted by sponsorship deals and image rights? I imagine most people on here need every penny of their weekly wage. All that said - well done Steven Gerrard. A very nice gesture.
What he said. but I think there would by many who have given their entire weekly disposable income away at some point.
It is a nice gesture and he didn't have to do it so fair play to him however as others have said it is an insignificant amount to him. There are posters on here, myself included, and many working people all over the country who donate to charity every month direct from their salary without any credit or publicity.
Most posters on here need their whole salary just to live, they don't have millions to fall back on but to respond to you I donated a weeks salary to McMillan last year on top of the monthly donation I make.
Class move from Stevie G. Liverpool and it's people, mean a lot to this fella.....that's why he's rejected other clubs through the years.
The reason he turned down Chelsea was because of pressure off local villains to stay,or else he would have been off.
True. It wasn't that long ago Beckham got abused for giving millions to charity because they saw it as a tax con.
It was the Sun newspaper said that he didn't move because of local gangsters. The same sun newspaper that made out that Liverpool fans killed Gerrard's cousin & 95 others at Hillsborough so I wouldn't believe a word of it.
