If I could do whatever I wanted this weekend, go anywhere, do anything, and money was no object, I'd choose to watch Paddy McCourt play football. Which is a stroke of luck, because that's what I'm doing anyway. And if he misplaces a dozen passes, never makes a tackle and doesn't track back I won't give a ****.
I just think it's great to have a player in the side who you would gladly spend money to watch regardless of anything else that happened. Last time we had one of his ilk was King Ronnie.
I can't remember the last time we had a player whom I so much look forward to watching. I was devastated when he went off last week because I wanted to watch him play. We've had some exciting players recently, like Butterfield, Hammill, Vaz Te, but I never found myself thinking "Can't wait to get to Oakwell to see Vaz Te" and I don't mean any disrespect to a very good player when I say that. I simply can't wait to see how he does tomorrow. I don't like predictions but if he's on form and up for it he'll make them look daft.
I agree except from Vaz Te, thought he was a superb player to watch. When he got the ball you knew something would happen.
He was a superb player, it's just that I never specifically thought of going to watch him. I do that with Paddy.
Agree entirely. I was cursing last week when he came off. I was proper pissed off. He is one of those magical players who does stuff that make you smile. He will be full of confidence after that goal too.
I reckon I could describe that goal to a professional animator who solely from my description would produce a video of it that would be indistinguishable from the real thing. I've replayed the bloody thing so many times in my head. Can't stop thinking about it.
Re: I agree looking at that video, that goal for Northern Paddyland with left foot is better then the one he scored last week
I've gotta be honest and say that McCourt is the most exciting individual player I have seen in a REDS shirt since Ronnie Glavin. If he puts on a show tomorrow, then he could make Owls look daft.
Fair enough mate, all about opinions. I'd pay to watch Vaz or Paddy, prefer the Derry Pele though he's summat else.
Practically sent me to sleep that article. But I liked the video. Watching Paddy play football makes me want to go out and play football.
Aye - a couple more goals like last week and Sir Bobby is going to have to get behind Paddy in the list of Barnsley players who can shag our lass.
Oh paddy! What a talent. He reminds me of George best the way he glides last players in slow motion. Pure poetry. Well done flicker for picking up another ex Rochdull lad who could thrive in this division. Shame on you ne'er Sayers who who were having a go at flicker for bringing him in.
