had to: football league rules on illumination of game at championship level, the pitch has got to have an higher level of illumination for HD TV. Barnsley had a time constraint in which to put this into action . cost serous amounts of money.
what about the scoreboard When Sky showed the scoreboard at the end of the game I dont know which was worse The fact it intended to say Barnsley 3 Ipswich 5 or the fact that only about 2/3 of the bulbs were actually lit
Re: what about the scoreboard Barnsley really let themselves down last night. Not just on the pitch but everything off it as well. 'this is a message, a message' was in full swing again and as usual he cocked up getting the name wrong in what was apparently an urgent announcement. The timing of the 'theme tune' was once again way off. Cheerleaders were stood on the pitch for what seemed like an eternity while the club cocked up with the music. Even Toby Tyke was taking the piss and miming having to wind up an ancient music system. We were on TV, we have TV's in the ground so what decision did somebody at the club make? Exactly, turn the TV's off. Scoreboard as always had bulbs out left right and centre and yet again somebody made the baffling decision to try to showcase the boards 'abilities' by using lots of effects. Effects that the board simply cannot handle and that only serve to show off its inadequacies. Blank or missing advertising boards. On sky? Seriously? The boards directly opposite the camera were empty? The club couldn't convince companies to part with a couple of thousand to advertise on sky? Embarrassing really. Thousands of empty seats shown to the world on sky All in all if I were a casual Barnsley fan or just somebody with a passing interest in football in the Barnsley area I'd have seen that last night on TV and made the decision that the club is in decline because that is how we presented ourselves.
