Looks like the gullibility of the British masses has been well underestimated.

Any publicity is good publicity, isn't that how it goes?

Gullibility of the British masses has been well underestimated......

    I dont think so

Why do you think the views of the Sun Newspaper is so important.........because politicians know that most of the people in Britain are as thick as a tree

So if the Sun tells people to vote Conservative.............they will vote Conservative..........

Whilst totally agreeing about tabloid influence tehn do you think

The BBC just cocked up and it ended up as being beneficial to the BNP

    or

the establishment is happy to see the rise of the BNP in the short term as it deflects from other issues? e.g. recession, bankers bonuses?

    Link says "one in four"

Headline and story says "one in five"

And it's "consider", yep, I considered it as well and then thought it was a stupid idea!

2 good points there, I feel

That the BNP and its leader was shown up for what it is and if anyone was in any doubt before the show they shouldn't be now.
The other point about the the rise of the BNP deflecting from the issues, is a very good one. I'm sure there's an element of that though.

The actual statistics in the story are

4 percent woud definitely consider voting for them
3 percent would probably consider voting for them
and 15 percent would possibly consider voting for them

66 wouldnt even consider voting for them in any circumstances

This is for both European and UK elections as well

Although I put myself in the 66% I would consider voting for All the other major parties and parties like the greens as well - though in practice I am unlikely to vote for more than one of them

    Yes, I know....however

Nobody expects them to be in a position to govern, but the very fact that you have nearly a quarter of the electorate not speaking with any hostility, that in itself must surely be a shot in the arm.

Dunno where the Lib Dems are these days, but I reckon they might be happy with some of those statistics, and the other minor parties, ie the forever labouring Greens would die for it.
