I really do not understand this army of reds fans wanting to oust Nick Colgan. Admittely first season with us he was awfull. But the last two seasons he has been one of our best and most consistent performers. And probably the most improved over the last two seasons.

I don't doubt that we need another good quality keeper to push him, come on give the lad a break!!! he keeps up in far more games than he loses....

We have had some awful keepers over the past few years and it seems that some of you put Nick in this category.
My top 3 worst Reds keepers over the past few years is a follows:

    1. Danny Alcock - Played 1 & conceeded 3 against QPR. The most nervous player I have ever seen.
    2. Vito Mannone - Young inexperienced single handedly gave two games away.
    3. Sasa Illic - How did he ever play in the premiership? may be good at 5-a-side!

shortly followed by David Lucas - I know he's not fully match fit so I guess we can let him off. We complain that Colgan sticks to his line but this lad rushes out far to often me and conceeded far to many goals in the games he played.

As for top 5 recent keepers
    1. David Watson
    2. Marlon Beresford
    3. Lars Leese
    4. Nick Colgan
    5. Kevin Miller

    Closely followed by Andy Marriott

He wastes time, he's welded to his line and gives little or no confidence to his defence. However the abuse is uncalled for, as it is against any BFC player. He certainly is a good shot stopper, but would not be my first choice.

Does the problem lie with Colgan for not commanding his area, or from a poor defence?

Sasa Illic was miles better than Marriott.

Marriot and Illic were both utterly appalling and one being better than the other isnt saying much.

One example of why Colgan is a liability

Against Rotherham in the first ten minutes on Saturday - Ball knocked over the top. Nyatanga jockying it back to goal under pressure from their striker and six yards out and the balls not enough pace to reach Colgan. What does Colgan do? stay on his line and do nothing. Luckilly a free kick was given in our favour. It would have been so easy for him to nip out and catch it.

Were not talking about an rookie here. Hes an experienced keeper thats played for Celtic and his country yet hes so unsure when he has time to think about anything. YES hes a good shot stopper as we keep hearing but surely thats a basic requirement of being a keeper isnt it??

I totally disagree with some peoples hostile treatment of him but i just dont trust him as our regular keeper. He looks a bag of nerves at times.

Good shot stopper, YES but anything other than that I don't think so. Can understand why he's not got the No 1 jersey whenever Given is out injured.

    Top bloke though!

When did Colgan play for Celtic?

He's played for Hibs & on loan at Dundee Utd - but he's never played for Celtic as far as I know.

    Body of Adonis.
    Face like a Doner Kebab.

A good servant to the club. Came through a torrid time early on and has played through that even when he went on loan and conceded 7 against Rangers.

His command may be poor and communication with defence, but looking at the available options over the last 2 season then I would choose Colgan every time.

Not good enough, simple as that .........

.... doesn't help abusing him but if we don't replace him quickly we will concede a shed load of goals regardless of who plays in the back four, his hesitancy causes panic and a goalie who doesn't come for any crosses puts pressure on the centre halves to win all the headers in the 18 yarder, sorry but he's got to go, whether he's a nice bloke or not!

So were forgetting the howler he let in for their second and that we scored all our pens as well?

    Yes.
I know he's a bit of a plonker at times, but I suppose I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
