Always interesting to see the difference in support after every defeat. Davey was praising him on the radio before the match. Anyway who should be in the net for the Derby County match?
I will stick with my view that Lucas should be given a game. Nobody expects us to get anything against Derby so maybe its the perfect opportunity.
My opinion is based on what I have seen over this season. His form and general goalkeeping has slipped as the season has worn on. If somebody is out of form then another player takes his position. It should be no different for the GK. If for any reason Lucas is not ready for the 1st team (I dont know the facts obviously) then why have we just given him another months contract? We might as well let him leave the club. Letheren is quite capable of sitting on the bench.
Wrong The perfect opportunity was after the Hull game when Lucas played the 2nd half. I'm a strong believer that the goalkeeper position is a unique and crucial one, and the man with the jersey should keep it until the manager feels he is no longer playing well enough. Colgan was struggling for fitness before the next game - surely it would have made good sense all round to give Lucas the next game? To be honest, I don't think that SD has helped him with this one, and if nothing else the threat of losing his place in the team might well help him to improve his form.
The way the goalkeeping position in the team is being handled (no pun) will make Colgan feel as if there is no threat to his place. And being in a comfort zone like that is no good for anybody.
apparently and that is a crucial word because if everything typed on here was true.... he called reds fans w*nkers after they gave him some stick during the second half
That is definitely what I saw Obviously I'm no expert at lip reading, but I'd be 99.9% confident that was the case. My Old Man says he also made the appropriate signal, but that I did not see
Well he dropped 2 in the 45 minutes he's played for the first team. More than Colgan has in ages - Colgan's shot stopping is what's gone pear-shaped recently.
Close poll compared to the last one. Maybe fans are warming towards Nick again and appreciate how blunt he supposedly was with fans yesterday.
Colgan never comes for crosses so he is unlikely to be in a position to drop one. And its a bit harsh to pick up on Lucas 'dropping' crosses in that 45mins. One of them was a blatant foul and he was quick to react and drop on the loose ball.
