Nicky Wroe signed a one year contract last season with a further one year option, which the Club has since exercised. Although York City was under no obligation to improve the player’s terms this season, Nicky Wroe was offered an enhanced contract, which is in line with the majority of his team mates.

York City Football Club also supported Nicky Wroe with his recent injury, paying £3,000 for an operation for the player in April.

Nicky Wroe was set to be part of Colin Walker’s plans for next season and everyone at the Club is very disappointed the player is not committed to the forthcoming campaign.

Is it the Barnsley culture thats killing the aspirations of these kids

Such players as Nicky Wroe, Antony Kay, Jon Parkin.............etc etc etc.............all great prospects....none have gone on to do much

Is it because we live in a culture that has BEER/Alcohol at the centre of it, even more so than the majority of other English towns.
If you can't go out and sup a gallon of ale by time you are 18 years old then you must be a poof.
Is it a sort of left overs from the mining culture

Somethings wrong somewhere that all these young players fall to beer and alcohol
