Got offered this at a garage this morning. Apparently they deflate slower than air filled tyres, and as you are more likely to keep the right pressure in for longer, there's less chance of uneven tyre wear. Anyone tried it?

where do you get them topped up when they need some air in? Bet that will cost you, not like free air at the petrol station.

It's £2.40 per tyre at the garage that offered it - AP Tyres at Parkgate. He said something about free top ups for a year after the initial payment though.

guess if they keep their pressure for longer then it's worth a once/twice year top-up.

i'm terrible with mine and i know i shouldn't be.

    I've got 'em

All four tyres changed &amp; nitrogen flled about 5 months ago, no leakage at all, tyre presures all still perfect.</p>

    And no, nitrogen doesn't explode.

Same here. However mine were over inflated causing more wear on the middle of the tyre than the edges. So the advantage for me would be that I wouldn't be inflating the tyre myself and getting it wrong! Having said that, it would be cheaper to have a free tyre check every so often and get them to adjust the air pressures for me!

How is it cheaper to have a free check every so often rather than having them at the right pressure all the time? Is your time free? I get paid by the hour so to take an hour out 3 or 4 times a year is way more expensive than paying a couple of quid per tyre.
