Doug O'Kane on Twitter: "Andreas Winkler has just done a press conference. Said he would be surprised if Chaplin signed today and that he expects Bradshaw to stay"
Millwall are after Washington @ QPR so hopefully this indicates they’ve ended their pursuit of Bradshaw.
Just watched the interview on ifollow. He pretty much said at the outset its for the CEO and he's focussing on training. Said Bradshaw was training well, happy and didn't look like a player who wanted to leave. And also commented that the Chaplin link was before they joined, so he'd be surprised if anything happened today on that. I must say, I do like these guys. Character, hard work, grounded, technical detail and a smile on their faces with a simple honesty. Obviously we're one match in, but given the crazy and painfully dour natures of the last two incumbents respectively, it seems they are exactly the sort of personalities we need right now.
What DWLC said. Early days but I am massively impressed so far with the assured confidence in themselves and the ability of the existing squad. I think we've found our 'perfect fit'. Eloquent guy that Andreas
For the assistant coach to explicitly say Bradshaw is defo not going would ultimately be the prerogative of the board so understand he doesn't want to speak out of turn. But judging from the tone clearly Bradders is very unlikely to leave. Can't imagine Millwall came anywhere near our valuation. Perhaps we no longer roll over. Let's hope so.
Or perhaps the coaching team are sending a message to the board, making it Impossible for him to leave without board taking the flak
Way I read it is no one is guaranteed to stay today, if a panic offer well over the odds came in anyone could leave. Would be silly to catagorically say he won't be going regardless, what if Millwall came back in with (something daft like) £5m and we had a replacement lined up? Would be fantastic business yet the manager would take stick for saying he'd not be going at all. (Absolutely delighted he does look to be staying for the record, going to get a lot of goals and would love to see him rise back to the Championship with us if we manage to get promoted)
Very much unlike the days when we sold, for example, Ricardo Vaz Te to West Ham for £500,000 because "...it was the most that West Ham were willing to pay." (exact words of Club statement, I think you'll find).
In the Potts interview just posted he says “It’s obviously quite an exciting day watching all the last minute deals, but as far as our lads are concerned we all know we’re going to be here.” regarding deadline day. I think that’s more of an assertive answer. Although I guess a coach would know more than a player. In my opinion, I can’t see any first team squad members leaving today.
The fact they all want to be here fills me with joy. A happy team, will be a successful team. Loving all the positivity coming out of the club at the moment. Long may it last. Bodes well for the future.
Regards transfer business , I think this window we ve really seen what our new owners bring to the table and it's all very positive . I guess the next test is can we retain good players coming to the end of their contracts without jepordising the finances of the club ? For example Bradshaw has a great run in the team up to January . With only 6 months left do we sell or can we persuade him to sign a 2 year extension without paying wednesday esque wages ?
