BARNSLEY manager Andy Ritchie has revealed that the Club will not be making an appeal over Brian Howard's controversial sending off at Bradford City.

The Reds midfielder was shown a straight red card by referee Andre Marriner in the first half of the goalless draw and the video replay has done nothing to aid Brian's case.

Andy told the Official Website: "It is not a very good angle at all on the video and it does look as though Brian's foot is high. From the angle of the video I do not think we will be able to get it over rescinded. It is very, very disappointing but it is something we will just have to take".

have we appealed over anything yet?

we seem to have accepted every red card without so much as a whimper this season

I spose it's difficult when we don't get as much TV coverage, means we only have a few (usually crap) angles to view decisions from

thats one of the reasons that i dont understand

why we have a camera stand sitting empty in the north stand every week. surely if we used it and had two camera angles for home games instead of just the one (normally VERY crap angle) then we would be more likely to see our games given more coverage on the highlights programs. It would also mean that incidents such as austin's red card would have been on camera and we could have appealed against it

    Have to be careful

If the FA deem the appeal frivalous , then they extend the ban eg. Freddie Eastwood of Southend United against Huddersfield Town earlier this season . What the FA and Barnsley consider frivalous may not equate .

I think that's pretty lame to be honest

I've just watched the highlights and the camera clearly shows the incident. It shows that he was late, but nothing more than that. Little contact was made with the player and certainly not with his studs.

The McPhail booking also looked decidedly dodgy. He came across and got the ball cleanly. In fact it was a very good challenge. Obviously that's a yellow card these days. And their player definately did deserve a second yellow for shoving McPhail.

They took a throw-in after the sending off, I thought

McPhail was booked for diving? Which would be strange. But after the ref's performance with Wigan & Fulham then you can expect anything.

    cost

Pure and simple. And I'm not getting at the club with that either. I wouldn't spend money on an extra camera on the off chance I would get a better angle on some controversial decision.

He was booked for keeping hold of the ball - stopping the throw-in from being taken. (I think).

I'm afraid I don't get out often enough to have a local!

3 young kids and that. Where did you go? Brown Cow is where we go when we get out as it's the only pub with all the Timmy Taylor beers on.

Well, broadcast quality is far more affordable than it used to be with the new generation of digital cameras aimed at the home market. However, whether the lens of these cameras is good enough to bring the action close enough when filming from the back of the North Stand, I don't know. I would imagine it's like watching ants play football. Unless you use digital zoom and then the quality is f*cked. Then you've got to pay for a camera operator. Plus whoever owns the rights to the footage (ITV probably, who then wire out the footage to premium TV) would have to give BFC permission to film it. And I very much doubt they'd bother flipping about with two tapes from different camera angles, particularly if one isn't on standard format. If there is no intention ever to broadcast the material but just use for controversial incidents I think it's a complete waste of time and money.

    Thanks for that.

Could you extend it to 4 pages & post it to everyone in the Midlands?

It seems you might know a bit about television after all.
Maybe you should stick to talking about that & leave the footy chat to people who have actually been fit enough to play?

You big fat gay witch bear affro achy-shaky 9 year old girl.
