Ritchie 'let down' over Tykes talks

Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie feels "let down and disappointed" with chairman Gordon Shepherd following the breakdown of talks over his new deal.

Following the 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace in the Championship, Ritchie - whose current deal runs out in eight months - revealed there was no contract offer on the table.

Shepherd had hinted Ritchie would be offered a new deal after rebuffing an approach from Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season, but now appears to have taken a step back.

"I had a chat with the chairman on Thursday, and there is not a contract offer on the table - at least not for the foreseeable future," Ritchie said.

"I have eight months to go on my current deal, and, as far as I am concerned, there are no talks in the pipeline.

"I feel let down and disappointed."

I feel let down and disappointed...

Every time I see Wright starting a game and him having no influemnce on the game whatsoever.

I fel let down and disappointed because Ritchie did not add to the squad when the time was right and when it was obvious that we were not good enough for this Division.

I feel let down and disappointed with the Manager making the same old excuses every week.

I feel let down and disappointed with the 'in fighting' taking place at the Club

I feel let down and disappointed by the players' attitude yesterday at Palace. I didn't go as I was unwell and had to cancel my coach place, but I listened on the radio and it wasn't pretty listening as they obviously did not care.

I feel let down and disappointed when I see the same tactical changes being played every week and the fact that we are an 'open book' to most teams.

I feel let down and disappointed when I look at the Sub's bench each game and weep because I know in my heart of hearts that there is no one sitting there who has the ability, skill or confidence to come on and make a difference and that nothing has been done to address this problem

I feel let down by our position, although as I stated before we kicked a ball, 4th from bottom will suit me.

I feel let down by the negativity coming out of the club on a constant basis

I feel let down by Barnsley Football Club, apparently being content to roll over and allow us to go out of this Division with barely a whimper with us being the butt of jokes from the teams we have played.

With a bit of fine tweaking you could turn that into a poem Tina!

Although I don't know what you were doing listening to the game on a box of soap powder.

Season starts again on Saturday, there's every chance we'll sign a couple of players this week and win 3 out of 3

    Keep the faith

    Yes LT

I am heartbroken at what is taking place at the Club, but have been through it before and no doubt will do again.

Tina, I think that post should go alongside Laura's earlier post and be presented to both teams at Oakwell, Players and Management. Well said!!!

    Why does the phrase

"don't shoot the messanger" suddenly ring alarm bells!
If the posts get sent to Oakwell I think it would be better by e.mail. If everyone is angry then I don't think that I'm quick enough to run away. (Since my operation in April I've grown quite a bit but I can't run anymore.)

Surely it means the contract offer has been withdrawn?

    Eh?

You write what you think then TD, I'm entitled to write what I think.
    What a strange reply
I don't think you understood why I started my post with I, I was referring to Ritchie saying "I feel let down etc, you obviously didn't 'get it' though:pff
