...am I the only one who is extremely happy at Grimsby's 2-0 defeat to Bath, and indeed their general predicament? Absolutely hate them with a passion!
Think Eaststand Lower beat you to that yesterday http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=155574&mid=1053428#M1053428 Not sure why they are so disliked - we usually did well against them when we played them They are a side I just dont care about one way or the other
hate them Very few fans but a large percentage of them nutters amongst them with a huge vendetta against Yorkshire. Being chased with my dad aged 16 with my 13 year old brother might be one reason (on a day when they WON!!), scaring the **** out of my 70 year old grandad a couple of years earlier may be another. Plus, the Findus Family Stand is one of the most ludicrous structures at any football ground ever. Enough reasons?!
Fair enough Never been to their ground. And never personally had a problem with them. I need to look to the likes of Newcastle for nutters who launched an unprovoked attack put it does put you off a team somewhat I admit
Merde Tete: I fooking hate Grimsby, too. Scrubbers. Chasing me round Cleethorpes when I was 15. I laughed a drain when they lost yesterday. You're absolutely right about the proportion of lunatics in their support. I hope they go bust.
RE: Redeemed by the quality of the fish & chips, in my book. nt Was just about to say the same. The first thing we always did when we got there was go to that Chippy near the ground!
RE: Redeemed by the quality of the fish & chips, in my book. nt Grimsby is a sewer. Ground is actually in Cleethorpes but still a shithole. I was pleased they lost too. Had past scrapes with the riff raff there back 1980, even though we got stuffed 3-0 /poo
RE: Think Eaststand Lower beat you to that yesterday I recall one bank holiday Monday game at Grimsby and they scored in the first few minutes, a few of their fans spilled on the pitch in the corner near us and one of them picked up the corner flag and threw it, javelin style, into the away end. A Barnsley fan threw it back onto the field and he got hauled out by the police, but they didn't do owt to the fan that threw it in the first instance.
Got locked up there once in the mid 90's after a bout of fisticuffs with a gang of codheads outside a pub near the ground, despite that i aint got a problem with em,always enjoyed our awaydays in cleethorpes.
First Barnsley match I went to was at Grimsby When I was about 8, we were on holiday in Cleethorpes and Barnsley were playing a mid-week pre-season friendly there and my dad took me.
RE: Think Eaststand Lower beat you to that yesterday Yep, same game where they chased my dad. One of those days where you're not overly upset about failing to get a late equaliser, due to it possibly being a threat to your general wellbeing.
