I find the talk of O'Driscoll quite uncomfortable We're displaying the same kind of 'bigger club' mentality that we hate with reference to our treatment vs the two Sheffield clubs. There's no longer the 'gulf' in size between Donny Rovers and ourselves that we could point to a few years ago. They finished above us last season, are undoubtedly playing a better brand of football than us at the moment, have a popular manager who is backed to the hilt by his Chairman, and are playing in front of reasonable crowds in a new stadium. Much as we might not want to admit it, they've caught us up on pretty much every count. I can't see how we can realistically expect that we'd be a much more attractive proposition for him to want to jump ship.
Donny are at their high water mark ...they've done this before, but I doubt they'll sustain it to be honest.
Ballax ! Bigger stadium, bigger fanbase, better players, financially better than them. They just have a good manager who gets average footballers playing it in the right way and seeking the benefits. We still, and should always, be a bigger club than Doncaster Rovers.
We will be above Donny this season and we have the capacity for much bigger attendences than them. We are much bigger than them. The league position is a temperary glitch.
RE: Ryan hasn't backed him to the hilt though.. indeed.. he stuck by him during the bad run last season but players such as Mills and Wellens have been sold on & low budget replacements have been brought in. Also, they lost £3.5 million last season. The Ground doesn't even belong to them. SOD has done a great job there & i wouldn't be at all dissapointed if he came here but that won't happen anyway.
