Just me and the wife, one of us was going to vote IN the other OUT so it's a waste of time us trailing to the voting station.
It's the most important vote you'll ever make Option 1 destroyed the north and vote out Or vote in and we've a chance
Why not just ask them to vote so the turnout is high and whichever way it goes the Govt cant say the total turnout was so low they will ignore the outcome rather than trying to tell him how to vote? I would love to hear your reasons for your statement that out means the North will be destroyed, unless you are confusing domestic government with EU . The former you can vote out if you dont like their policies (although since pre-election promises and even pledges are not legally binding we usually dont know what we are getting until the Govt is in office). The same applies to the EU commission (the ones who make the decisions) except they are even further away and are not elected so you cant vote them out. Just because you perceive they offer the working man in the North protection against rabid right wingers in power here (and perhaps they have to some extent- although nowhere near as much as claimed by some on here) it does not mean that they will continue to do so. Since you cannot put them out of office how would you deal with a right wing commission under the control of Corporate America? MEPs have no more power than we do. They basically rubber stamp the decisions made by the EU commission. TTIP - Cameron wants it but a voter rebellion would scupper it. The EU want it (and have been negotiating behind closed doors) and the European electorate have absolutely no say in stopping it!
Reckon the wife is just telling you she isn't going just to get one over on you. I'd go in secret just in case pal
It was because the secret negotiations were leaked and it all hit the fan. The negotiations were at an advanced stage before it became public knowledge of what was going on. hardly a shining example of the EU being a transparent, democratic model
Point is, TTIP is in tatters now and contrary to the scaremongering that The EU can't be touched. Also, How many times have this Govt. tried to rush/ sneak through bills etc before they've Been brought to the attention of the masses?
This Government... you can vote out. The EU commission you cant. TTPI is in tatter now only because of whistleblowers NOT democratic process. Most of the negotiations within the EU were secret. Even now many of the released documents are redacted to the point of being illegible.
It was always going to be common knowledge, and you make it sound like some sort of last minute intervention. No it wasn't ,the Trade Unions in particular knew of this well in its infancy. At the moment in time, I trust Brussels far more than I do Downing Street. Our Soveriegnty means nothing to me when all I get is banged from pillar to post by a horrible Govt that doesn't even have a mandate to do a lot of what it's doing.
But you can join with others and vote them out...the Tories were unelectable just a few years ago...they will be again.
So who will be electable then, coz Supposedly Labour are unelectable. I vote against them every time but it didn't make any difference last twice. Current British Sovereignty or EU, EU every time with the impending changes that are coming after the remain victory.
It's not possible to predict but these things are generally cyclical..could be a Scot Nat Lab coalition with not a massive swing.
