When you start a game where one player of the opposition cost more than our entire squad. Another likely on wages of our 1st 11. We are always up against it. What happened we gave away 2 avoidable goals and we competed well I thought. Usual inconsistencies in the 3 with whistle and flags. I'm not downhearted but I am frustrated because it felt like an uphill battle. We will get it right again and things will turn around.
Got to disagree because if we looked hard enough we'd always find an excuse in defeat. No shame had we lost with a fight but we had zero fight for the second home game running and it's scary our bad we've been and I can't see where our next win is coming from. Any of us could have been the Newcastle keeper tonight with how little we worked him. One winger through a strop and the other was more like a defensive midfielder with how little threat he gave us again.
I can't see too many negatives from tonight, other than the score line. Great debut for Jackson & Bree looked assured. OK Adam spat his dummy out, but I think he looked like he was likely to get sent off the way he was diving into challenges. As we were 2-0 to a very good team made sense to rest him for Saturday. Think we may get back to winning ways on saturday.
12 months ago we were bottom of league 1. Playing absolute turd. Newcastle were in the Premiership. They have a budget we can only dream off. To see how far we have come and battled tonight I think it isn't much to ask for in the stands not to start panicking. Which is what I am seeing the beginning of. I've seen enough to feel ok that we won't be squeezing cheese on the last day of the season. That has to be progress from the last time we were here
Our turnaround has been brilliant since last December. The budget difference between us and Newcastle is sickening for two teams in the same league. But I still expected if only the once that we'd make their keeper have to make a save of note. Of course I can see positives in other aspects such as Bree and Jackson in defence.
