get ready - if you smoke inside the boundaries of oakwell or any other football ground ,IE . once through the turnstiles all areas whether inside or in open air you are breaking the law, stewards have to remove smokers from the ground or the club gets fined. if approached by a policeman it is an offence which results in a three year ban from the ground .this is applicable to all football ground's .If the football ground is termed out of town by the licencing authorities they can open the gates at half time to let smokers outside the ground for a smoke. unfortunately we are regarded as an inner town area by the authorities.

    three year ban ?

Although it will create a cleaner environment to watch the game in, which is a good thing. I think a three year ban for forgetting that you cant' light up is a bit extreme, after all you only get a one year ban for running on the pitch and goading the opposition fans.(dunno)

with a huge risk of a backlash here....

exactly which english law are the smokers breaking if they light up say, on the corner between ponty and west stand....

Technically no roof, and not more than 50% walls,

    as the law states
    http://www.smokefreeengland.co.uk/what-do-i-do/quick-guide.html

you can define the ponty as "substantially enclosed", but the corner has no roof, so technically, it is not "substantially enclosed" nor "wholly enclosed"....

I think you are correct andyou would not be breaking the law. However you would be breaking the official policy and therefore suffer sanctions from the club but no criminal charges.

I have a prelimination design for a smokers hatmask which will be available near Belindas hot dog stand on Saturday. Its a large plastic like bubble that fits nicely over the head. You can they use interchangeable covers from various super red tykes players that fit over the bubble like a glove, with two gauze matting eye holes poked through

The smoke stays inside it and it can be emptied out into the toilets at half time.

I started designing it in 1997 so unfortunately it comes with free Gary Flemming, Brendan O'Connell and Johnny Bishop head gloves.
