    For England. Smalling picked.

That's why he needs to leave Everton.

That's also why Hodgson needs to leave England.

Not going to happen yet. So in order to get in the starting 11 he needs to get to a top 4 club.

I completely agree. I don't always agree with Stan Collymore but he was absolutely bang on last night when he said Hodgson (and other English managers) pick their squad on reputation, club and price tag.

    Smalling's better than Cahill.

Cahill gets a game simply because he's at Chelsea.

Anybody who watched Kane, John Stead & Kenny Miller tear him apart in the past year can't tell me he's a quality player.

At least Smalling's improved a lot since his first England call ups.

Stones & Smalling should be first choice for me

Er....more than a few changes to the side. Nothing to do with form, club, ability - Hodgson rightly gave his other two centre halves a run out as they'd already qualified. You're reading wayyyyy too much into a few routine team changes.

Er...I'd suggest he played what he considers his first choices tonight rather than against San Marino. Don't think I'm reading too much into it at all. We'll see.

More often than not the England manager does pick on reputation and club. Players at the big clubs are favoured over players at smaller premier league clubs.

Fair play to Smalling though, had a decent game.
