BARNSLEY’s search for a new striker continues to frustrate manager Keith Hill.

Hill told The Star: “We’re absolutely nowhere to be honest, we keep getting let down left, right and centre.

“We’ve made inquiries about a lot of players, but at this moment in time we can’t get the calibre of player into the building we’re looking for.

“The majority of clubs we’ve spoken too don’t want to let strikers go at this time in the season.

“We’ve spoken to a lot of agents, but in quite a few cases we can’t match the wages the players are looking for.

“We’re working on a tight budget here and we’ve got to work within that.”

But Hill remains focused on finding the right man to bolster his strikeforce, although that’s highly unlikely before tomorrow’s home clash with Huddersfield at Oakwell.

Leading scorer Craig Davies remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Egyptian forward Mido has not played all season because of a hamstring injury. Hill says he is quite a long way from being fully fit.

“Mido could come into the side by the end of the month; there comes a point where he has got to play and I’ll throw him in,” revealed Hill.

“It’s been frustrating that he’s not played yet, but he’s played a couple of development games and hopefully he’s going to be ready soon.”

Hill will also be without David Perkins for between four to six weeks.

Meanwhile, central defender Rob Edwards has returned from his loan spell at Fleetwood.

Ex-Reds midfielder Jacob Butterfield has joined Bolton Wanderers on a one-month loan deal from Norwich City.

Seem to be the only club in the Championship that can't get a striker in on loan.
