WTF, I thought that we had left this Mary Whitehouse mentality behind us but it seems that we are still living in a nanny state. When you compare the content of our television to other countries you really have to scratch your head and wonder exactly who is offended by this? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...s-and-curbs-swearing-after-9pm-watershed.html
As much as I disagree with the claim that there is too much swearing/sex/violence on TV, in what way is the BBC responding to viewers criticism evidence of a "nanny state", if their customers are saying that they don't like something then why shouldn't they respond to that? As long as we don't go as far as the US where the only edgy drama you get is on subscription-only HBO.
Because there is always the option to not watch if they are so offended by the content. I dont think the BBC is that bad anyway and struggle to think of any programme that could be seen as offensive. Provided the swearing / violence / sex is in context then i just dont see what the problem is provided it is screened after the watershed.
