Having just heard that Mr Mellon has been given "an extended run" to quote The Sheffield Star - I cannot help but feel utterly and totally depressed. This is just more of the same. It's time to get rid of the deadwood and move on; we are just wasting time. We need a manger who is going to unite the fans and get them behind the team again. There are only two guys I can think of who fit this bill - one we have no chance of getting (Mick McCarthy), and the other is Danny Wilson. I don't expect us to get promotion to the Premier - but I would like a manger who can spot a good player and get us playing good football again. Stop messing about Barnsley FC, and for once do the right thing - GET DANNY BACK.
I agree with absolutely everything you have said. I walked away from Barnsley FC when Mark Robins left and my decision was easy to make. I have watched from a distance and perused the messageboards during the reigns of the Rochdale Cowboys and I am worried that the wrong decision will be made again. Barnsley FC is not an attractive destination for any manager or player these days and changes need to be made. Short termism again if they give it to Mellon. We need a new gaffer to get things rocking again and, despite the rose coloured filter of those wonderful seasons under Danny Wilson, he is the ONLY candidate for me. I don't expect miracles, and I certainly don't expect promotion, but I do expect a manager and players to run their blood to water for what is a dying cause. If this is another "short term" manager already in position at the club then why appoint Mansford and Watkins? PC stated that the definition of madness is to keep repeating the same thing!!!!!
