Absolutely disgraceful for a chairman to criticise his right hand man in public. What can he possibly be hoping to gain from this stunt ? It's changed my opinion of Mr Shepherd and not for the better. If this was a ploy to get the fans on side then it's backfired with me.
RE: And me.Unprofessional to say the least. GS obviously feels strongly enough about AR soft soaping the press about players not being let out and no money when he belives this not to be accurate Not sure what to believe
Dirty linen in public doesn't wash with me. What sort of money is being offerred to chase players...peanuts as usual?
RE: Dirty linen in public who knows. The Kazim Richards saga is the more bothering. We donlt know why AR chagned his mind, granted, but it's a bizzare situation. Most plausible explanation is that he found out that that would be the budget gone?
No win situation Let's face it, this board has been calling for communication from GS for months, at last he speaks his mind and he gets crucified. What would you have said if he'd come out with, "There is no problem, everything at BFC is lovely we've just been unlucky virtually every match this season."? Or how about giving AR the vote of confidence or any of the other usual crap that is scripted exclusively for the use of football club directors that GS actually avoided in the interview?
What could he have said that would have satisfied?

Agreed , Gordo is getting a sweat on. If he doesnt want to be criticised he is in the wrong job , as I would say its impossible for a footie chairman to please all the fans at once.

RE: No win situation He'd have been better saying nowt. You are right about the no win situation though as that's what he's created. -Andy Ritchie says nowt and all the fans turn against him as it will be perceived Gordon Shepherd is telling the whole story. -Andy Ritchie goes on air and has a pop at Gordon Shepherd and their relationship deteriorate's further. -Andy Ritchie resigns as he feels he cannot work under these conditions and we are left managerless at a crucial time of the season. The club cannot benefit from what was said last night. I'm damn sure our top boss would have handled the situation more diplomatically, I get your point but this hasn't in anyway helped the situation at the club.
He might have heard Sheff U were going in for him , then thought we havent a prayer against them so there is no point pursuing it.
I think his issue is WHAT he was being criticised about And it would appear that he wanted to give his side of the story.
RE: No win situation Agree 100%, he would have been better off keeping schtum, but would that have satisfied this board?
It seems that everyone wants to know everything that is going off at Oakwell but only if it is exactly what they want to hear.

RE: I think his issue is WHAT he was being criticised about Could you imagine John Dennis getting into a mess like this?
RE: I think his issue is WHAT he was being criticised about No, he just wouldn't say owt to anyone then put the club into admin.
Yours, C. Y. Nic.
