No Wind of change BRADFORD City will have a huge say in the play-off issue, starting tomorrow. Mid-table Bradford face fifth-placed Barnsley tomorrow and then everyone's favourite outsiders, Nottingham Forest, on the last day of the season. Star striker Dean Windass has promised neither will get an easy ride. Windass topped Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie's wanted list earlier this season and there was talk of a six-figure bid to lure him into a cross-Yorkshire switch. Now the 37-year-old hitman could come back to haunt them at Oakwell tomorrow. Windass has revenge on his mind after wasting a string of scoring opportunities during the FA Cup clash between the sides in South Yorkshire earlier in the season. He said: "I owe Andy Ritchie's team big time because I missed five or six chances that day and we should have won that game. They beat us in the replay but we should have finished them off first time. "But I always like playing there and I got a couple of goals live on Sky last season. "The move to Barnsley obviously wasn't meant to be. I've no regrets about it not happening - otherwise, look at where Wigan are now. "I turned down Wigan because of the circumstances and the club turned down Barnsley. But you can't go on ifs, buts and maybes and just have to get on with the situation as it is. "Bradford rewarded me with a two-year contract and if I score against Barnsley then I've rewarded them with 20 goals. So I will feel I've played my part this season." Windass has been stuck on 19 for four games since blasting back from suspension with a hat-trick against Scnuthorpe.. "The chances haven't really come along lately," he added. "I had one half-chance last Saturday when maybe I should have done better but I bent it over the bar. "Hopefully they'll return at Barnsley like in the last game there and this time I'll tuck a couple away." Barnsley are clinging on to a play-off place by a point from Nottingham Forest and Swansea. But they have won only once in 10 games simon.meeks@sheffieldnewspapers.co.uk 28 April 2006 « Previous PageNext »Page 1 of 1
