Now it's starting to bite.

Nerves will jangle, there'll be casualties, mistakes will be made, points will be thrown down the drain - and they are.

The Reds' recovery from the financial brink has been nothing less than brilliant, and we know it. And if we had not gone up through the playoffs last season we would probably be coasting it comfortably in League 1, building up potential, pulling in happy crowds, more likely to see a win.

But recovery is a slow process. It's easy to lose sight of that sometimes, especially during bad runs like the one we are in now. Perhaps the patient got out of bed a bit too early and is finding the challenge of being in a more demanding environment just a bridge too far at the moment. Yep, it's frustrating.

But all we seek is the safety of 21st position this time around, and that or even beyond is perfectly achievable. The club is still going through a difficult time and doing the best with what it has. The lads and Andy are hanging in there, and we have to do the same.

    I doubt

keeping short arms in deep pockets is doing the best it can do with what it has.

    unless of course

... the pockets are either empty, or do not hold enough to pay the asking price.

10k through the gate is not going to buy or attract the best for the job.

    Aye

but what price championship football next season?

    6000 gates in league 1.

    Decent players gone.

Apparantly we pick up Togwell & McIndoe (both better players in our current squad) for probably less than 200k but every other player that could improve our team is out of our price range?

Leeds, Wednesday, Sunderland all likely fill away end this season and probably add a thousand onto home figures

    ie 7000 x 3 x 20 quid = 420,000 - not to mention better away support generally.

    get relegated knock 2000 off home gates 23 x 2000 x 15 quid = 690,000

TV money 600k? better deal next season?? gap widens???

Broad brush of course but nevertheless indicative.

    Deep pockets

    short arms
