Non-footy: Does anyone use CB radios anymore?

I used to dabble, mainly annoy other users, a long time ago...I don't own one anymore, are the waves deadly silent these days? Used to be a good laugh before the internet became mainstream.

 

One Four looking for a copy good buddy. I think it was when they sort of made it legal it took the fun out of it. Used to belong to a couple of local CB clubs myself.

 

Takes me back to the mid 80's.

 

Ha ha, brings it all back. I never joined any clubs, spent most of my time listening if I'm being honest. Heard some pretty mad things, which were a bit disturbing knowing that the people involved probably weren't that far away.

Always found it strange that 99% of the chat on a CB was people talking about their CB's!

 

Rodger on that good buddy, perhaps a few years earlier for me though.

 

As with anything there are always the Anoraks who take the fun out of it. I just grew bored with it. BTW my handle (CB Name) was Humbug)

 

I used to have a little two band CB radio back when they were really popular (the summer of 1983 I think). I think it only had channel 16 and 30 but I loved it, for a few months anyway.
