Non-footy Post: Anyone here use Skype 6.7 32.102 on Windows 7 ?

As I live in Italy I use it to contact my daughter in Barnsley weekly. Lately it has become virtually unusable... dropping the connection, pixelated picture which freezes constantly, poor/inaudible sound quality. Apart from that it seems to hammer my processors and the cooling fan on the laptop is working hard and the vents get very hot even when I am not making a call (I usually just Quit Skype unless I want to use it because of that). Whilst I do not have the greatest connection speeds (3-4 Mb/s download and 0.25Mb/s upload) they should be capable of providing a reasonable connection. Even audio only is pretty poor now. Anyone else notice a deterioration in quality ? I used to have far less issues with the same connection and equipment.

Thanks - I will give it a try - I was thinking of regressing to an earlier version as the problems may have started after I updated to my current version. This 6.10.x. version seems to have appeared quite soon after 6.7.32 so I wonder if it has fixed some bugs.
