With a drive to Carlisle planned for tomorrow I checked the weather forecast and noted that the Humidity will be 91%. Now I thought Humidity was when it was hot and muggy so what is high Humidity in the middle of winter?
Humidity is associated with warm mugginess - but humidity actually is just the measure of the amount of water vapour in the air. So I would think it will be mizzly / misty. Wet... Love Cumbria, go to the lakes every year. Always wet.
relative humidity is usually what concerns people, when the ambient temperature is high and the relative humidity is high your sweat doesnt evaporate and this causes heat exhaustion. This happened a lot in very deep coal mines where we would be working in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees and the relative humidity would be around 99-100% which meant you would be dripping with sweat that couldnt evaporate. To combat it we used to have special vests that were kept in cool boxes, any miners on here that have worked in the deep selby pits or others like maltby will know what i'm on about.
