Can I embed a .gif file or any other moving picture into a Word document and if so how?

E.g. My avatar is a .gif file - Could that be stuck into a Word document so that it still worked?

    Cheers.

Does it not work with Insert then Object then create from file tab?

    Thanks for that

I may have to do it the way you suggested. I was hoping that I could somehow insert the picture into the Word document so that it appeared on the page as my avatar does on this page. The way you suggest just leaves an icon which when clicked opens up the gif file in another window. Need to do it in Word otherwise could have used alternative software.

    thanks for the tip.

Do as already told, insert from file, but save the document as a webpage instead of word doc

then you won't lose the animation.

Surely if he needs it as a .doc he can't save it as a webpage, that'd give him a .html filetype.
Not entirely sure how to get your animated .gif, animated, on a .doc file, didn't think it was possible.

"Right Click" on your avatar / image and click "Copy"

"Right Click" in your document and click "Paste".

The other way is to save as word doc and then use File/WebpagePreview

    to view the animation
