I'm not sure if I'm going to watch to be honest. Quite a lot to discuss and plan for so the footy might be sacrificed. Depending when my missus gets snoozey, I might catch the latter part of the second half. I fancy us to win though, Roberts shoring up the backline is a huge plus.
I don't think watters is great but he runs and challenges for things which is more than I've seen Humphrys do for a while.
I'm here. It's quite nice in parts, some lovely old buildings. Also some absolutely horrific bits too. And the accent is weird, borderline Cockney then an immediate switch to East Mids. Would take Barnsley over it any day.
We'll miss Connell. I don't like the idea of a midfield three of Russell, Philips and Nwakali and would be tempted to push de Gevigney into the midfield to add some protection in front of the defence. I doubt he'll do that and I think a team managed by Kevin Nolan will capitalise on it. On the plus side, it'll be good to play with a proper forward and I think they'll be goals in the game. Stupidly agreed to a night out before checking the fixtures so I'm missing it.
well done, you must have searched for them. This is Northampton in the main, particularly around the ground. One of the few places where the chant...." insert name....a shithole, I wanna come home" is fully justified. I lived there for a number of years, until I escaped.
I mean the ground is quite literally in the middle of nowhere! Not even horrible, just a nothing area. The town centre itself has a few lovely old buildings, unfortunately most of it is minging. What Barnsley lacks in old buildings, it makes up for in not being in the main a derelict shitoyl. Like us though, have always found the locals nice and welcoming
Used to be a reasonable pub at the top of the hill where the skinflint stand and watch, called "Sixfields", one of those hungry horse type things. Had various team shirts pinned to the ceiling. I gave the landlord my Wake Smith shirt (well, it was a particularly crap one) to add to his collection and the @rsehole burnt the place down, (allegedly) in an insurance fiddle not long after. I think they were rebuilding it.
I think that's still there from what I can see on Google Maps. I'm lucky enough to a. Be alive in a time when Uber exists and b. Be able to afford it. But christ knows what people did before that to get to Sixfields. So grateful our club is still based practically in the town centre.
