hi guys, thought i'd have a quick look at what you guys thought about yesterdays game. i have to say that some of the stuff on this board is really excellent, and yes, all of you that were there were in good voice. you guys actually reminded us of when we were getting whalloped in the prem - just keep singing and the more you go down the more you sing.

i'd have to disagree with the bod that didnt think it was a pen - i have to confess that at the time i wasnt sure he'd give it, and to be fair that wasnt any intent to deliberately bring Earnie down, but the sky stuff clearly shows that he clipped his ankles. i would have been happy with a yellow.

i think that rich tea deserves some bravery points for not going to one up top, but ultimately it's these decisions that could cost you dearly. we did it in the prem, and thought that by giving it a go we'd have the best chance of survival - we were wrong and i fear that you guys could have a similar story.

you guys badly need some steel in your team, we have a poor away record, won something like 10 in two seasons, and one of the reasons is that we couldnt match the trench warfare of teams that can dig in and have resistance - we kept trying to go toe to toe with teams, conceeding, then gambling to chase the game and conceding again. we lost 4-0 four times last season!

your whole survival will be based upon your results with the teams who will be in and around the drop zone. you already have two good results with hull and colchester, they are sure to be somewhere near the bottom.

goal difference is a big indicator and it tells a big story. without wishing to be rude you are ina 'false position' in the league, but i think you will survive on the basis that there will be three teams worse than you this season.

on a footballing front the team looked naive. teams come to carrow road with ten men behind the ball and try and frustrate and see a point as a good result away from home. they put two men on each winger and try and push us inside and not let us around the back. games in this league are won on the flanks, and with our new boy croft we can really go for teams rather than just use one trick pony hucks (who was outstanding - best he's played for a long time)

i was actually impressed with the lad hassell, he looked like he was gonna give hucks a hard day, but obviously he moved into the middle after the sending off.

overall take it as a learning exercise, but if you start seeing the same mistakes being made get worried. people say that one mistake in the prem costs you a goal - we learnt that - but it counts in this league too - its just that a mistake = a shot that sometimes gets saved. your defence looked like they wont keep a clean sheet all season becasue they appear prone to a lapse of concentration.

stay up and then you can look to exchange players for those with better quality, but you must dig in and get players behind the ball - teams will have had scouts watching that game and seen what happened and do the same and it keeps going. the seasons long, just keep supporting the way you did at Norwich and never give up. You guys were a credit and it was really nice to have chatted with a few, you certainly had more fans and voice than the so called bigger teams! Good Luck!

Excellent post mate totally agree, couldn't have put it better myself!!

Our team is not good enough to go toe to toe with teams like Norwich and we will do well to survive!

Have you seen any football this season?

This league is pants , there are probably 17-18 teams of a similar level.

We will survive comfortably, and whilst you cant lose a game by not conceding a goal , you also cannot win a game without scoring.

Yes, i am a season ticket holder and have seen both home games this season.

We played well in both those games but we still conceeded 4 goals in those 2 games and we only got our wins against bottom clubs. We are good going forward but we need to know how to defend as well because our current defence apart from Reid is pants!!!

HOW DO YOU MEAN OUR DEFENCE IS PANTS? I aint seen a bad performance from our defence yet this season (apart from yesterday but thats understandable) If you are a ST holder then open your eyes at the next few home games mate, we have a great defence.

Dunno but at the moment I for one am quite happy with individual performances at the back. Ok we arnt the greatest defence in the world but they all do an awesom job.

decent maybe not good,we got promoted because we kept scoring more than we conceded. To be fair we do keep getting good individual performances but as a unit we concede waaaaaay too many and the Norwich fan got it bang on whe4n he said some of em 'go missing' or switch off at various times.I agree with the fans who say we need a dominant centrehalf, and for me we need a good organiser too to plug the many holes we leave in nearly every game.

Thanks for the honest assessment mate. You may only have seen us once but you've well and truly hit the nail on the head. Our defenders as individuals often look impressive but as a unit lack concentration and organisation.
We all like to see a side playing attacking football, but we cannot go gung ho against the top sides in this league. That's what happened in the Prem. We need a good solid centrehalf capable of organising the back four properly to enable us to dig in and sometimes grind out results away from home. In McIndoe and Devaney we have plenty of pace to hit teams on the counter.
Goal difference could turn out to be very important and results like yesterdays will not help.

Agree, patronising to say the least!

A Norwich fan saw us play for 80 mins with 10 men and analyses our chances...who the f**k are Narwich???!!!

it was not honest it was patronising and belittling....but

I do agree we do need the defence beefing up... we are scoring enough but conceding more.

Hows he being fecking patronising he gave his opinion of how he saw it and commented on problems that they have had,and he nailed our defence even if he has only seen them once.

After seeing us play one game with 10 men?

How can he say we play just like they did in the prem? If we'd had 11 players the game would have been totally different, still think they would have won but by one goal or we could have snatched a point. I wouldn't go on a Norwich board summarising their style and prospects based on one game!!!

i would have thought the vast majority of posters will have seen a lot more championship football

    in their time than you.

your analogy between your time in the premiership and us in this league is completely misguided. and false.

your post comes across as very patronising.

as i have said all along preseason and it has come to fruition this season - this league is not particularly strong and we will survive. there's a lot of misplaced bravado from clubs who think they have a god given right to be in the prem.

southampton last week, norwich this week. it was just the same when we were last in this league.

steal in our team? you don't know what it means lad. we've got it in abundance.

looking forward to stuffing you at Oakwell

RE: i would have thought the vast majority of posters will have seen a lot more championship footbal

hey guys im sorry if you thought i was patronsising and to be fair you dont seem to have commented on things that i said that were good - like your support.

look at things a different way, the last time we scored five was against walsall when merson first took charge. they went down. why? becasue they felt that by having an orchestrator up front they would score more than they would concede.

all i was commenting about the prem was that as a team we were not clever enough, or put another way naive.

i know some may see it as being unfair and not valid as i saw a game, but jeez, football is about opinions and i think that its good to have banter, but to go on another teams board, for me, is what football should be about - friendliness. at the end of the day, i'm probably only ever gonna see you guys play twice a season for as long as we are both in the same division. if i have to have a barnsley ST to be able to comment then i'm sorry for pi**ing you off.

One more thing if i may - i dont know who does your scouting for future games, but you guys missed a massive trick. we havent had less than ten offsides a game for yonks. yesterday we had one. first game to about four years where we have had less than out opposition.

regarding some comments about a commanding centre half. Malky Mackay. Got promotion with us, moved to west ham, promoted next season, moved to watford, promoted next season. The bloke isnt necessarily a great footballer, but he's an organiser and a rallier (if thats a word) of troops. Coincidence???

regarding goal difference - to survive you'll need to score probably 40 goals depending on how many you let in. obviously if you let loads in you have to score more. sit down and work out realistically where those goals are gonna come from and you'll soon realise that it's far easier not to leak than to score. when you're on a tight budget goals cost big money, defenders in comparison are far cheaper.

as for the bloke that said who the **** are Narwich - lol. after yesteday i neednt answer that.

look forward to a far more even return leg

No way whatsoever did Kaye make contact with his legs. As soon as Earnshaw felt the hand on his shoulder he went down.
