But was genuinely surprised by how poor Bolton were and how little they offered.. thought after 1st game they got it wrong but will come here and go for it...even at 6 mins extra time and 1-0 down there still didnt seem to be much urgency in their play...reading comments from their forum many of their lot feel the same.....

 

I thought they'd be better in the second leg.. apart from the 15 mins after half time they did very little.

 

Duff outsmarted Evett in both legs. I reckon Evett thought that we would go full on high press at home. Instead we held a shape and picked our moments when there was a backwards or inaccurate pass. People around me were given Cole and Tedic grief for not flying into challenges every time their back three had the ball, but in the first half in particular, they executed the plan very very well.

 

Same. The only time I was especially nervous was the indirect free kick.

 

Definitely we let their 3 lumps at the back have it and dropped into the shape ,thought kane and Phillip's dropped abit deep for a period in the second half probably because they were getting tired all in all a great professional team performance.

 

Yes we modifed our style in both legs so Bolton couldn't get there game going. That's why Duff said/knew it was was going to be a close game cos we wenrt going to go gun-ho in either leg.

 

Spot on we let them have the ball kept our shape and pressed when needed they had no answer to break it down.

It showed for me what a superb manager Duff is. He got the game plan bang on and out manoeuvered Evett completely.

Whatever league we end up in, if we want to keep progressing, it is imperative we keep Michael Duff.

 

Bolton were awful in both games, at no point in either game did we come under any sustained pressure, last night I sat in the east stand completely calm for the entire match, they had plenty of possession, but, in their own half.
A lot has been said about their manager, I'll just add my two penneth, I understand he has to big up his own team, but, to completely ignore the fact that his team, over two legs have been completely out fought and at times played off the park, is really stupid, he has no class at all.
