Why did we have a minutes silence for Derek Dooley, he was a dee dar for gods sake, i know its very sad but if we had one for everyone there'd be one before every game. It was bad for people to boo etc. but they was asking for trouble and everyone knew it was going to happen. Bad decision.
I didn't know it was going to happen I expected a minutes silence to be respected. Anyone who knows anything about football knows he wasnt just a dee dar, only the braindead idiots only remember him as that.
I respected the minute's silence As did all but a handful of the crowd. But I must admit, I was very surprised by the decision to honour him with a minute's silence. Sure, his passing is sad news, but I don't know what he meant to either Barnsley or Chelsea football clubs, or to any of the fans. I remember being shocked by the death of Steve Cooper at a very young age. I was one of thousands of Barnsley fans who were personally effected by this very sad news. He was one of our own. I was then very disappointed by the club's refusal to honour him with a minute's silence. cue abuse
I was very disappointed by the club that day too I am still failing to see why a request for a minutes silence to honour an OAKWELL (i feel like young nudger here) hero that died young was turned down by the club. They never gave a good enough reason for me.
It's because it was requested by the fans and not from within the club BFC of old would call a meeting to discuss why they couldn't do something, rather than whether or not it would be a good idea
Wasn't it this bfc under gordon shepherd that made the decision? By the way, the club missed out on another big PR excercise yesterday, turning down an opportunity without so much as a consulation about it. But we won't go into that.
Thing is Footballers, Ex footballers, directors, managers alike are all part of what we subscribe to every week. One minute of our time to reflect and respect costs nothing. It shouldnt be a problem.
Agreed especially whe the club refused over the last couple of years to have one for a ex Barnsley player
