Think we’ve played well tonight. Yes, defensive errors and clinical finishing have cost us. But it shows how far we’ve come in a short space that we’re disappointed losing to a top of the table side. After defeat to Blackburn I would’ve taken 2 draws this week, yet we won on Tuesday so we’re a point up so to speak. Think Bournemouth will be up there come the end of the season, we should be comfortably mid table. 2 big games coming up against Wycombe and Wednesday, hopefully 6 points to come.
I fear we’re facing Wycombe at the wrong time and we always seem to lose our ‘easier’ games. Hope I’m wrong.
They have managed to keep the majority of their Premiership squad together and they trousered £40 million in parachute payments with another £35 million to come next season. Quite frankly, we are worlds apart in terms of players and fiscal assets, so for me, tonight's result comes as no surprise really.
I think there are three things we do badly in general. One is we squander too much possession trying to flick the ball forward or always looking for the killer ball. The second is we do not close down opposition players on the edge of the boxand they get time to shoot or find a killer pass. We came up against a team in a different class tonight and we soundly punished. The third is we are lightweight up front. Victor shows glimpses but far from the finished article. Too much weight on Woodrow's shoulders and tonight it showed, he looked leggy.
Another thing in Bournemouths favour, is that their manager Jason Tindall played for the Club for some ten years and was Eddie Howes assistant from 2012 up to him leaving at the end of last season. In essence, he has an in depth knowledge of the players , how the Club works from top to bottom and the expectations of the fans, the Chairman and the board. Our coach is still learning the ropes.
