Combination of having had a difficult recovery from covid, and simply feeling disillusioned with the way people treat each other on social media. Just seen Gally’s post, and i despair. Then i look at Twitter, and see this, with loads of fans at MY club laughing at a young kid. Can’t see any speaking out for what it is....just congratulating this horrible post. Coupled with the embarrassing youths chasing Coventry fans around the station (blokes with young kids not even vaguely looking for a scrap). (Probably the same culprits to be fair). Even in this site we still have one or two glorifying the “we saw them off” mentality. What should have been a great weekend back at football just ruined by idiots. I think I will retreat to my cave again. Depressing.
Glad to see you've got through Covid - I had a terrible bout a couple of weeks ago - never been so ill. One or two things did spoil yesterday - wasn't just our game Load of trouble with Donny fans in Sheffield - loads of songs about Munich in the station - not sure whose fans they were. Train into Manchester there was a group of mouthy United fans slagging off Scousers, Yorkshire and Hillsborough. Although it's a small minority ut doesn't half leave a bad taste in your mouth. Hope you feel better soon
I don't do Facebook or Twitter or any other apart from BBS, it's awful mate(that I can see on links) Look for all that is good, the world is full of hate but compassion overrules it all. It's not all bad
Good to see you posting again, Fired. Hope you're feeling much better. I guess in many ways, as bad as lockdown and restrictions have been, they at least had the effect of dampening down all the crap that circulates around live matches. Watching a whole season (and a bit) on iFollow allowed us to focus on the football and we could forget the idiots. As you say, yesterday should have been a celebration for everyone, yet some folk can't wait to get back to their own twisted version of normality. It's not just football either. Since the pubs reopened, there's hardly a week gone by without a bus shelter being smashed along Huddersfield Road. Graffiti looks to be back with a vengeance too. You'd think people would be too busy having a good time again to mess about like that. Sorry. This was supposed to be a post to encourage you to come out of the cave again. Don't let the wotsnames grind you down. Ignore the Twitter stuff and stick with the BBS. There's much more fun - and basic human decency - in this place.
Only leeds fans ive ever known to sing that, lot of yrs ago, leeds must be desperate to sing about that still, they did get battered 5.1 like.
I don’t get why people are so shocked by it. It’s not just cropped up in the last few years, as bad as it is, it’s always been like this. It’s ***** but let’s not pretend it’s anything new.
You're right, its not new and in a lot of ways a lot better. Room for improvement though, it is possible to drink to enjoy yourself without damaging property.
You’re spot on here. Things aren’t worse, or better, it’s just that we’ve had 18 months where it hasn’t been possible to see any of it. It’s not nice to see, doesn’t make you feel good about society, but it nothing has changed (sadly). Hopefully it will calm down a bit as the frustrations of 18 months of various lockdowns get out of the system. It was always going to be a bit ‘tasty’ across the country for these first few games back as the idiots that every club had before are likely still idiots today.
Not sure I agree I think things have got worse possibly because having been restricted for months some people are overcompensating for their "feeedom" but also there seems to have been a shift in a section of society that they are entitled to behave however they like - maybe I am getting old and just see it more but there does seem to be a more agressive selfishness in some people. The flip side is that a lot more people are conspicuously helping others though in general thats a loss less newsworthy. Unfortunately the selfish thugs seem attracted to football so it suffers more than most though its still a lot better than in the early 80's
I was referring to football. If you go back 18-24 months there were similar videos being shared. There was always going to be a spike in bad/over excitable behaviour with games coming back. Our access to 'info' increases by the day. We need to be sure to acknowledge that when saying things are worse - I don't believe it is worse I just think we see bad examples far more often than ever before.
