New style, new ideas, just not quite there yet. I thought we played great in bursts, awful in others. Easy passes missed, second to some balls, too slow to find a man in space and not enough finding of space. Britton looked lost at times, Kitching looked like he had some ideas on how to find space but didn't quite have the skill set to do something with it (not his fault, thought he made the best of it). Styles went looking for work but would have been better on the wing. Not sure what happened with Britton, his crossing was woeful at times, he couldn't or wouldn't beat his man and he looked like he was unsure of what his role should be. Odour never beat a man (unless I missed something) but he had the chance for a great goal in the centre, his touch didn't completely get the ball under his control, but it was tight in there and maybe I'm being very picky. They need more time, they need more practice and hopefully it will click. We've gone from Val's clear simple message to a more complex one so it will be more difficult and take more time to get it.
The problem last night for me was the lack of speed in transition. Times many we needed to get the ball into the box but stopped and turned away from goal for the easy pass. That gave Luton the time they needed to get set up in defence. Now whether the players have the skill to get it in early or just quicker that they do is up for debate.
Agreed, they needed to find the pass and get it away quicker. Luton were all big lads, we needed them chasing shadows all game to wear them down.
