managers often say they 'won't walk away' as if it highlights some great strength of character. It's like they think their determination not to lose their job will reassure the fans. But if you're not doing a very good job, you should walk. Hill has been banging the 'I'll never quit' drum for a while now. This quote is ridiculous: "There are managers who would bail out when faced with getting a relegation on their CV, I would never do that, I was brought up a different way." It's not about YOU, it's about what's best for the club! Some managers would realise they need to step aside to prevent the club getting relegated. When they say "I won't walk away" they are basically saying "**** giving up the chance of compo when i'm sacked".
Too right, why give up your contract payout. Can't see Hill making enough in his career to give up on mortgage payments for.
Yeah he's not going to walk away from a job that pays him £200,000 a year, how many managers have actually resigned over the years? A tiny percentage compared to those who are sacked or leave by 'mutual agreement' I bet. I'm still behind him though to be honest as even though the stats look pretty awful, I've seen enough in the performances to know that the team aren't that far away from going on a bit of a run - we really should have beaten Sheffield Wednesday, I think even their fans will tell you we battered them for long periods and on another day we'd have scored three or four, obviously a fantastic result at Millwall and the Birmingham game is obviously winnable.
And how do you know he gets £200k/year? BTW Our LAST manager resigned (probably cos he thought he was going to get the Blunts job!!). But yoyr right to keep behind him - I think we're on the right track (hopefully!!)
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. What is he supposed to say? He has been honest and open throughout, about the difficult season, the financial constraints, the log term plan and his position within all this. It is not Hill's fault that he is obliged to give such a number of interviews every week. Is it any wonder he appears to be 'bleating' when folk are reading multiple reports of the same interviews which are then explode and repeated on social networks? I would suggest that people get a realistic understanding on the media involvement, because they really are hoodwinking the lot of us. Hill's on a rolling 12 month contract and is unlikely to lose his job until the end of the season, if at all. That would mean no compensation will be due and as any rational person can see bringing in a new manager is a bigger risk, so it really is becoming a redundant argument.
This 200k was quoted in one of Whitey's fanciful posts and has no basis in reality as far as anyone has publicly been made aware.
