Totally agree. I'm actually feeling a bit depressed about the premier season starting.

Agree, football could learn afew things from other sports when it comes to conducting themselves with dignity. The way most of the athletes in the games have coped with having a microphone shoved in front of them minutes after sometimes 4 yrs of graft has ended in failure has been impressive.

    I share those thoughts.

People busting a gut for years to reach a part of their lives in an Olympic environment that may only last a matter of seconds against egotistical deluded wannabees arguing the toss about a £100k a week wages. I know who i have respect for.

Spot on JT. As Mr C says I am also dreading the premier league starting again.

Not dreading so much. But it will be a stark contrast to the general high level of sportsmanship and grace that will be the lasting memory of this games for me. I've even forgotten about the Badmington fiasco, well - until just now obviously....

I have mental images of John Terry, Suarez and the like and it's making me feel a bit sick.

The Sports Media need to take a look at themselves too. Yes big up the achievements of these Olympic athletes but take a long look at themselves before **** suckin the pampered, obscenely paid footballers.

Very good point re the sports media. I too am dreading the return of the premier league (and to a lesser extent football in general) and all the very worst sporting values that it will re-establish and represent.

I'd be interested to know if anyone on here, if given the choice, would actually prefer to watch the premier league rather than what we've had the privilege of seeing over the past two weeks?

I can think of one who would. Personally I haven't even watched the Olympic footy, preferred to watch the other sports.

Football is probably the sport I'd be least likely to watch at the Olympics (probably along with basketball). Perhaps they should drop football for beach football or futsal and basketball for some other team sport without the multimillionaire players.
